Dear Western Maryland Troopers Association,

Thank you for selecting me for the Western Maryland Troopers Scholarship. Your generosity means I can help pay for my degree without the burden of student loans. Also, my brother will be attending college in two years and this will help my parents to be able to send two children to school at the same time.

I grew up in Clear Spring, where I attended Clear Spring High School. I became interested in Criminal Justice while growing up and watching my father work in this field. I visited Frostburg over the summer before my senior year, and I was impressed with feel of the college. I knew I wanted to go to Frostburg to pursue my degree because colleagues of my father’s went to Frostburg to obtain their degree. They told me that the education there would prepare me for my career in law enforcement. My plans after I obtain this degree are to look at all the options and decide where to begin my career which most likely will be here at the state level. Entering the criminal justice field has been a lifelong dream ever since I was little. I always remember hearing dad’s stories or watching COPS on TV. With this degree, I will be able to help people who in some instances cannot help themselves. I will be able to protect people who cannot protect themselves. Again I want to say thank you for making this dream come true by helping me pay for the education I need.

Thank you again for the Western Maryland Troopers Scholarship. Awards like yours make it possible for students like me to earn our degree.

Thank you,

Collin Schultz
